Navexpo: Lorient to host second ‘boats afloat’ trade show

Last year saw one of the world’s few floating trade shows, and France’s first: Navexpo International, with media partner Mer et Marine. Preparations are in full swing for the second edition, to take place from 10 to 12 May 2017 at the port of Lorient.

Tallink’s LNG ferry Megastar makes a splash

LNG is considered the maritime fuel of the future in the Baltic Sea, especially by passenger shipping companies. However, even with the 2015 0.1% Sulphur limit of the Emission Control Area, its development has been slow as most have opted to use marine diesel oil (MDO) while cargo operators have gone for scrubbers. So it was with great fanfare that the introduction of Megastar was a mass media event for its maiden voyage on 29 January.

Multi50: Un trimaran à foils pour Vauchel-Camus

Après des succès en Class40 (1er de la Transat anglaise 2016), le Malouin d’adoption Thibaut Vauchel-Camus, 38 ans, change de catégorie avec la construction d’un Multi50 doté de foils. Ce trimaran, signé du cabinet d’architectes VPLP et de ENATA pour la construction et l’optimisation, est actuellement en tout début de construction dans un chantier de Dubaï, aux Emirats arabes unis. La mise à l’eau est prévue en août prochain. Première course, la Transat Jacques Vabre, dont le départ sera donné le 5 novembre du Havre, cap sur Salvador de Bahia au Brésil.
